This is Toby Wagoner's first season with the Bobcats as an assistant coach. Wagoner replaces Dan Magrino, who returned to his alma mater as the full-time assistant coach under legendary coach Don Meyer at Northern State University in South Dakota.
Wagoner will work primarily with the Bobcat shooting guards. He will handle film exchange with opponents and other schools as well as assist in the GCSU recruiting efforts. His focus in recruiting will be on targeting the Mid-West and Northwest.
He comes to Georgia College from Bishop McNamara Catholic High School in Kankakee, Ill., where he was the head boys basketball coach since April 25, 2006.
"We are pleased to add Coach Wagoner to our staff," Sellers said. "We are fortunate to bring in a coach with his level of experience. He has been an assistant at the Division II level and a high school head coach for several years."
Wagoner is originally from Hoopeston, Ill. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. He then went on to earn a Masters in Education from the University of North Dakota. He is working on his second Masters at Georgia College in Public Administration. He married the former Kimberly Benedict, a teacher in Illinois who will be joining him in Milledgeville in January.
