Bobcat Men Make it Four Straight with Thrilling Victory over Clark Atlanta, 68-66

ATLANTA – It was a back-and-forth battle in Atlanta Monday night, but the Georgia College Men's Basketball team (4-2) took care of business against the Clark Atlanta Panthers (3-3) 68-66.

The fans definitely got their money's worth from the exciting game between the Bobcats and Panthers. The contest consisted of 10 ties and 17 lead changes, culminating in a late second half push by the Bobcats to come up with the victory.

Monday night's matchup was a shootout from the beginning with both teams frequently trading the lead throughout the first half. The Bobcats shot an impressive 47 percent from the field in the first half, but went into the break tied with the Panthers 32-32.

The same intensity of play carried right over into the second half as both teams continued to go back and forth. At the 14 minute mark, the Panthers made their move and went on a 13-4 run over five minutes to give them a nine point lead with nine minutes to go.  The Bobcats were down seven with 6:30 left when they went on a huge 8-0 run to take the lead with 4:00 to play. The two teams traded the lead a couple more times in the final minutes until the Bobcats broke open a five point advantage with 50 seconds to go and held of CAU in the final seconds to close out the win.

It was a total team effort from head coach Mark Gainous' Bobcats with every single Bobcat player reaching the scoring column. Georgia College shot 44 percent from the field while holding its opponent to 41 percent on the evening.

Georgia College had three players in double digits Monday night. Freshman Kohl Roberts (Atlanta) came up big, scoring a career-high 14 points while collecting six rebounds. Junior Mark McCorkle (Cumming) had his second-consecutive double-digit game, scoring 12 points with four boards and two blocks. The final Bobcat in double-digits was sophomore Isaac Thomas (Trion) who netted 11 points and was two assists short of a double-double with eight, adding three rebounds.

The Bobcats put their four-game win streak on the line as they host the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
