GC Basketball Alum Takes Assistant Coaching Position at Armstrong
SAVANNAH, Ga. – Armstrong State University head men's basketball coach Evans Davis announced today that Georgia College All-American Jeremy Mayweather has been named assistant coach for the Pirates for the upcoming 2014-15 season.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Armstrong mission through the position of Assistant Men's Basketball coach," said Mayweather. "I look forward to contributing to the success of our students and I am thankful for the many ways that great men and women have contributed to my life to help me reach this point."
"My experiences in the Peach Belt Conference and the many lessons I've learned from my time spent under the tutelage of Coaches Terry Sellers, Mark Gainous, Maurice Smith, Toby Wagoner and Jimmy Wilson have helped me reach this point in my journey. It is a blessing to have them in my life as well as the support of loving friends and family."
The Peach Belt Conference's (PBC) Player of the Year in 2005-06 while playing for Georgia College, Mayweather joins the Pirates after serving as the men's basketball assistant coach at Central Georgia Technical College for two seasons, while also accumulating experience on a part-time basis for his alma mater's men's and women's programs.
A native of Stathan, Ga., Mayweather graduated from Georgia College in 2008 with his bachelor's degree in criminal justice and received his master's degree in education from Walden University in 2010. Mayweather played for two seasons at Georgia College, leading the Bobcats to the NCAA Southeast Region title game as a senior in 2005-06, averaging 13.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game en route to earning not only PBC Player of the Year honors but NABC honorable mention All-America honors as well.
