MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Senior guard Royal Thomas (LaGrange, Ga.) of the Georgia College men's basketball team (5-6, 1-3 PBC) was voted the Bobcat Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 5. This marks the first such honor for Thomas and third for Bobcat men's basketball this season.
Thomas averaged 19.5 points over two games this week, shooting an amazing 70 percent (14-20) from the field in the process. His best contest came in the loss to the University of North Georgia Saturday, matching his career high with 26 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Thomas netted 19 of that 26 in the second half Saturday, aiding the Bobcat comeback late. He added five rebounds and two assists to the game's line. Thomas is 19th in the PBC in scoring at 13.6 points per game this season, and ranks 10th in shooting at 57 percent.
The Bobcats are back in action tonight, Jan. 8 at Flagler College at 7:30 p.m.
