PADERBORN, Germany – Former Georgia College basketball all-star Ryan Aquino (2009-12) has signed a contract to play with German professional team Finke Baskets Paderborn.
The forward was a standout during his time as a Bobcat. As a junior, he averaged 10.5 points and 8.0 rebounds. Aquino improved on those numbers his senior year, averaging a double-double with 17.6 points and 10.4 rebounds. For those efforts, he earned a spot on the Division II Senior All-Star Game roster, just the third Bobcat all-time to do so.
The Paderborn-based team recently changed their name from Webmoebel Baskets Paderborn. They currently play in ProA league, the secondary German professional league and finished fifth during the 2011-12 regular season.
Aquino, the only listed center on the team, will see his first action Saturday Aug. 18 in an exhibition game.
He picked up All-Southeast Region and All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) First Team honors in his career. A well-rounded student-athlete, he was named to the PBC All-Academic Team as a sophomore as well.
