GC Men’s Basketball Signs Clifton
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College men's basketball program and head coach Terry Sellers announced the signing of Will Clifton Tuesday.
Clifton, a 6-foot-4 guard, comes to Georgia College from Wesleyan in Norcross, Ga. where he played under head coach Ryan Hodges. Clifton led all scorers in Gwinnett County this past season, netting 20.3 points per game. He also averaged 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
"We started recruiting Will while he was playing AAU for the Atlanta All-Stars under coach Ben Miller," said Sellers. "He is an outstanding shooter with good size. Will is a great fit academically and athletically here at Georgia College and we are excited he decided to join our program."
Clifton was named All-Region 7-AA both his junior and senior seasons. This past season, He was named to the Atlanta Journal Constitution AA All-State Team. He scored 1,031 points in his high school career.
The Bobcats battled through the 2012-13 season, a 9-17 year with a 5-14 conference mark. Senior forward Scott Ferguson earned a slot on the All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Third Team. Georgia College finished the season third in the PBC in fewest turnovers per game (11.3) and second in defending the three-point shot (.306). Sellers picked up his 200th PBC win this season, his 20th at the helm of Bobcat basketball.
