MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College men's basketball program and head coach Terry Sellers have added David Gallagher to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Gallagher spent last season as the Assistant Boys Varsity Coach at John Milledge Academy, picking up the honor of Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) All-Star Team Assistant Coach. He helped guide the Trojans to the AAA State Tournament Elite 8. He also served as a middle school football assistant coach.
"Coach Gallagher is an outstanding young coach with a bright future," said Sellers. "We are fortunate to have someone with coach Gallagher's background and experience join our staff."
Prior to the move to Milledgeville, Gallagher was the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School in Marlborough, Mass. for two seasons. The 2011-12 Worcester County Athletic Conference (WCAC) Coach of the Year, he guided AMSA to a spot in the Central Mass Division III Playoffs.
A 2009 graduate of Auburn University Montgomery, Gallagher was the two-time AUM Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He added Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Male Honor Student of the Year in 2009 as well. A member of three NAIA National Tournament Teams in his four years, AUM picked up two conference titles and one conference tournament title with him on the roster.
Gallagher's wife, Tinna, is the Assistant Coach for Bobcat soccer.
The Bobcats battled through the 2012-13 season, a 9-17 year with a 5-14 conference mark. Senior forward Scott Ferguson earned a slot on the All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Third Team. Georgia College finished the season third in the PBC in fewest turnovers per game (11.3) and second in defending the three-point shot (.306). Sellers picked up his 200th PBC win this season, his 20th at the helm of Bobcat basketball.
