NEWBERRY, S.C. – Georgia College men’s basketball (2-0, 0-0 PBC) student-athlete Ryan Aquino (Roswell, Ga.) has been awarded the Mom Reeves Tournament MVP for his effort this past weekend in a perfect 2-0 start for the Bobcats.
Aquino played a phenomenal pair of games, leading GC in scoring and rebounding in each.
Facing off against Lee University Friday night, Aquino shot 50 percent (5-of-10) from the field, tallying 19 points while grabbing six boards. He also chipped in with three assists and one steal.
The following night, Aquino helped the Bobcats dismantle tournament host Newberry College, 79-65. His 24 points led all scorers, as did his 11 rebounds.
Aquino played a well-rounded game corralling six offensive and defensive rebounds to go along with five assists and five steals, a game-high in each respective category.
Joining the senior on the All-Tournament team were fellow classmate Jared Holmes (Indianapolis) and junior JP Davis (Albany, Ga.).
Holmes scored 33 points in the pair of games, grabbing 10 rebounds while Davis had 13 points and eight assists.
GC continues their early season road stint when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. Friday, Nov. 18 to take on Queens University (N.C.) in the Final Fire Classic at 8 p.m.
