GC Men’s Hoops Adds Familiar Face to Coaching Staff

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College men’s basketball program and head coach Terry Sellers are proud to announce the addition of graduate assistant coach Josh Hurst.

Hurst played for the Bobcats from 2007-2011 and started for three seasons. The Bobcats had a record of 80-32 during his playing career, including a 53-21 mark in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play. Hurst played on NCAA Tournament-qualifying teams in 2009 and 2010 including the 2010 PBC West Division Championship Team that went a perfect 10-0 in the division.

"We're excited that Josh will be joining our coaching staff," said Sellers. "He understands the high expectations for our program, and we feel he will be a great addition."

Hurst scored 603 points, grabbed 556 rebounds (sixth all time), and blocked 75 shots (fifth) in his career. Josh shot 42 percent (204-482) from the field, 37 percent (59-158) from the three, and 74 percent (136-183) from the line. A well-rounded student-athlete, he also earned a spot on the PBC All-Academic Team three years in a row.

Hurst will assist in all phases of the program including individual workouts, academic programs, scouting, and recruiting efforts. Originally from Athens, Ga., Hurst played at Clarke Central High School. He is pursuing a Master’s of Education in instructional technology.

The Bobcats are fresh off a 16-10 season in 2010-11, finishing third in the PBC. The Bobcats lose two seniors, including starting center Reece Wiedeman (2006-11), who was named Second Team All-PBC and starting forward Hurst.
