GC Men’s Basketball to Face Augusta State in PBC Tournament Quarterfinal
COLUMBUS, Ga. – With the final regular-season weekend of the 2011-12 campaign complete, the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) released the 2012 PBC Men’s Basketball Tournament bracket, showing the West No. 3-seed Georgia College (17-9) taking on East No. 2-seed Augusta State University (16-10) Friday, March 2 at 3 p.m. at Columbus State University’s Frank G. Lumpkin Center in Columbus, Ga.
GC finished with a 10-7 conference mark, including wins in nine of their last 11. Augusta State was 12-6 in PBC play, at one point winning four conference games in a row.
The match-up will hold a measure of revenge for the Bobcats, as Augusta State pulled off a 59-56 victory during the season’s lone meeting Jan. 18. Senior forward Ryan Aquino (Roswell, Ga.) had a game-high 18 points, including a pair of threes, adding 11 rebounds for his then-11th double-double of the season. Junior guard Ryan Lively (Cumming, Ga.) knocked down five from long range for a career-high 15 points.
