AUGUSTA, Ga. – Senior forward Ryan Aquino (Roswell, Ga.) of the Georgia College men’s basketball team (14-8, 7-6 PBC) was named the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced. This marks the first such honor for Aquino and the Bobcat men’s team this season.
Aquino had a monster week for the Bobcats with 25.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games. He opened with a career-high 28 points and added 10 rebounds in a loss to Clayton State University, then had 23 points with nine rebounds in a big Homecoming Game win over Columbus State University. The senior added 1.5 steals per game while shooting 48 percent from the field and drained five three-pointers. Aquino leads the PBC in rebounding with 10.0 per game and is fourth in the league in scoring. His 13 double-doubles on the year lead the PBC and are the third-most in the nation.
All-time, the Bobcat men have had 21 players named to this list. The most recent honoree was Reece Wiedeman (2007-2011) taking the title Feb. 14, 2011.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. for White Out Against Cancer Night, and Senior Night at the Centennial Center against North Georgia.
