Bobcat Men Drop 69-62 Battle at Armstrong

SAVANNAH, Ga. Despite another double-double from Ryan Aquino (Roswell, Ga.), the Georgia College men's basketball team (8-5, 1-3 PBC) didn't have enough firepower to top Armstrong (7-7, 3-3 PBC) Monday night, falling 69-62.

Aquino had 16 points and 12 rebounds, helping GC to its 40-29 drubbing of Armstrong on the glass. Junior Quin Bivins (Macon, Ga.) added 11 points with three threes, and classmate Scott Ferguson (Roswell, Ga.) tallied 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Pirates' Aric Miller was the story, pouring in 22 points on 8-of-13 from the floor, adding five rebounds and five assists. He got help from DeVon Jones with 13 points.

The big difference in a tightly-contested ballgame came at the free-throw line, as the Pirates went to the stripe 13 more times than GC (26-13) and knocked down 10 more of those extra chances (21-11). GC only had three individuals attempt free throws this evening.

Armstrong out-shot the Bobcats 47 percent (21-45) to 35 percent (22-63) from the floor, and the turnovers were nearly even, GC losing it 14 times and causing 13.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 14 at 3:30 p.m., hosting USC Aiken (10-2, 4-0 PBC) at the Centennial Center. The Pacers most recently beat Columbus State University 76-61 Jan. 7.
