GC Men Make it Four in a Row with 66-64 Win at USC Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. – Powered by a career-best 24 points from sophomore Nate Hamilton (Snellville, Ga.) the Georgia College men's basketball team (13-8, 7-6 PBC) edged a win 66-64 at USC Aiken (13-9, 7-8 PBC) Saturday. The victory was GC's fourth in a row, as the Bobcats have not lost in the month of February.

Hamilton did his damage from long range, hitting 7-of-9 from beyond the arc and 8-of-11 overall. The ever-consistent Jared Holmes (Indianapolis) poured in 15 points with four boards and five assists.

Reece Wiedeman (Suwanee, Ga.) had 13 points, five boards and two blocks, while Josh Hurst (Athens, Ga.) tallied 11 points and eight rebounds.

Up 62-61 with 3:31 left, Hurst hit a jumper, then ripped down a rebound on the other end, setting up a Hamilton jumper for a 66-61 lead and 1:18 remaining.

USCA's Sterling Council cut the advantage to two with a three-pointer, giving the 'Cats the ball with 41 seconds left. GC ran out the clock, turning it over with slim seconds remaining, setting up a last ditch three by Byron Faison that missed.

Council had 17 points off the pine, while Alvin Brown managed 12 points, eight rebounds and four swats.

The Bobcats shot slightly better overall at 45 percent (24-53) to USCA's 40 (23-57) but shot a lot better from long range, hitting 8-of-17 (.471) while the Pacers managed just 9-of-29 (.310).

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. traveling to No. 16 Georgia Southwestern State University (17-5, 10-3 PBC). The Hurricanes most recently beat Flagler College tonight 80-76.
