Bobcat Men’s Hoops Cracks National, Regional Polls

INDIANAPOLIS - On the strength of an eight-game win streak, the Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (14-2, 7-0 PBC) made a return trip to the (National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)/Division II National Poll, and an appearance in the first NCAA Southeast Region list.

The Bobcats are No. 25 in the nation, tied with Clark Atlanta University. Georgia College is third among the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools, behind No. 8 Augusta State University and No. 24 University of Montevallo. Arkansas Tech holds down the top spot with an 18-0 mark.

Georgia College re-enters the poll for the first time since Dec. 8, when it held the No. 18 slot. The Bobcats were in the top-25 for two weeks.

In the NCAA Southeast Region poll, used to determine the at-large teams for the NCAA Tournament, the ‘Cats come in at No. 3. The Bobcats are behind PBC schools No. 1 Augusta State and Francis Marion University in the first region poll of the season. Listed behind the Bobcats is No. 4 Catawba College, No. 5 Mount Olive College and No. 6 Anderson University. The PBC's North Georgia is slotted seventh, joined by No. 8 Montevallo as the final of the five PBC schools.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m., taking on regionally-ranked Francis Marion. The theme for the evening is "It's All About Prevention" sponsored by the Athletic Trainers Student Organization, featuring contests and multiple raffles.
