MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Powering the Bobcats to wins in their first two games, senior guard Graham Martin (Marietta, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (2-0) was named GCSU Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 22. This is the first such award for both Martin at Bobcat basketball this season.
Martin aided the Bobcats to a 2-0 start this season, supplying a crucial impact in both contests. In Wednesday's win over Newberry, he led the Bobcats in points (21) and rebounds (6) while hitting 4-of-6 from behind the arc. In Saturday's West Georgia game, a tied contest with less than a minute left, he got a steal on the defensive end to net a jump-stop shot in the paint for a two-point lead. He then got another steal with just 10 seconds left as the Wolves were going for the tie or the lead. He finished with 13 points and a team-high four steals.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Dick Campbell Memorial Classic against host Carson-Newman College. Georgia College returns home Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. against Carver Bible College.
