MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Sophomore forward Reece Wiedeman (Suwanee, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (4-1, 0-1 PBC) was named the GCSU Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 14, the sports information office announced today (Dec. 16). This is the first such honor for Wiedeman and the third for the men's basketball team this season.
Wiedeman abused the Cougars of Carver Bible College for career highs in both points (25) and rebounds (11) helping Georgia College to a 130-77 win Dec. 8. The 6-foot-8 forward hit 10-of-11 from the floor, adding a pair of blocks to the personal-best effort.
The Bobcats will be on the road Dec. 29 to face Wingate University at 5 p.m. as part of the SpringHill Suites Midtown New Year Classic, hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State University. The Bobcats last played Wingate in the 1992-93 season, an 89-85 win.
