by Tyler Peck, sports information graduate assistant
AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Preseason Polls for men's basketball were announced today (Oct. 28), with the Bobcats selected sixth. The polls are compiled from votes sent in by the league's coaches.
The Bobcats were picked sixth after finishing third in the conference a season ago. GCSU comes in behind USC-Aiken, Augusta State University, Clayton State University, North Georgia, and Armstrong Atlantic State University.
Georgia College is coming off their ninth 20-win season in program history. The Bobcats will be without All-Region and two-time All-PBC center Aaron Clark in the starting lineup for the first time in four seasons. Shaun Keaton (Albany, Ga.), All-PBC guard and 16.6 points per game returns to lead the team. Add in junior guard Graham Martin (Marietta, Ga.), 15.8 points per game in PBC contests, and you have a 1-2 three-point combo that helped the Bobcats hit a school-record 295 three-point baskets last season.
The GCSU Department of Athletics sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, GCSU prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the Bobcats' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
