#14 GCSU Men Lose at Lander, 70-62
GREENWOOD, S.C. - Unable to combat a second-half surge, the No. 14 Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (17-4, 11-4 PBC) fell at Lander University (10-11, 6-9 PBC) today (Feb. 14) 70-62. The loss gives the Bobcats two straight for the first time this season.
Georgia College was out-scored 38-27 in the second half after reaching the halftime buzzer up 35-32. The Bobcats gave up plenty of free-throw opportunities, as they were outscored from the line 24-13. Twenty-five fouls were called on GCSU, compared to Lander's 15.
Lander also did the job on the glass, out-rebounding the Bobcats 50-33. Junior Ty Rowland (Lilburn, Ga.) led Georgia College in scoring for the first time this season, putting in 13 points. Graham Martin (Marietta, Ga.) added 11 points and Justin Brown (New Orleans) scored 10.
Lander got 17 each from Ford Lawrence and Dane Sparrow, while Curtis Milner added 12 to the win. Each Bearcat that played had at least three rebounds.
The Bobcats are back in action Monday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m., traveling to Columbus State University.
