MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Junior guard Graham Martin (Marietta, Ga.) of the No. 24 Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (13-2, 7-2 PBC) was named GCSU Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 25, the sports information office announced today (Jan. 27). This is the second such honor for Martin and the fifth for the Bobcat men's basketball team this season.
Martin was pivotal in all three games this week, helping the Bobcats to a 3-0 schedule while averaging 17.0 points per game. The week started with a 68-67 win over Clayton State University, where Martin led with a game-high 14 points. He also got a crucial tie-up on a rebound with 1.3 seconds left to force the Lakers into an in-bounds play that was broken up. In the 71-60 win at Georgia Southwestern State University, Martin again led all scorers with 20 points, adding five boards to the effort. In Saturday's 69-63 upset of No. 10 USC Aiken, Martin was the team's high scorer with 17 points and four assists. He's now got an eight-game streak of double-digit scoring.
Martin and the rest of the Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. hosting Columbus State University in the Centennial Center.
