MARTINEZ, Ga. - Senior guard Shaun Keaton (Albany, Ga.) of the No. 24 Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (16-2, 10-2 PBC) was named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Week, the conference office announced. This is the first such honor for Keaton and the Bobcats this season.
Keaton led the Bobcats to two more wins this week, averaging 19.0 points per game. In Wednesday's win over Columbus State University, he had a team-high 15 points, three boards and a couple of steals. In the 79-76 shocker win over No. 7 Augusta State University Saturday, Keaton exploded for 23 points, yanking down a career-high nine rebounds. With the week, Keaton moved into a tie for ninth in career points at GCSU (1130).
Keaton is the first PBC Player of the Week for Georgia College since Aaron Clark (2004-08) on Feb. 12, 2007.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m., hosting North Georgia.
