MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College golf team and head coach Jimmy Wilson have announced a five-tournament schedule for the fall of 2014.
The Bobcats will play in three different states over a two-month span, traveling to Florida twice and playing one tournament in South Carolina, as well as a pair in Georgia.
The fall season starts at the Kiawah Island Invitational, hosted by USC Aiken Sept. 15-16. The Bobcats have competed here for years, finishing seventh a year ago.
The St. Leo Invitational comes a week later in Dade City, Fla., hosted by St. Leo College. This will be Georgia College’s first appearance in this tournament.
Georgia College will then travel to Columbus, Ga. and look to improve on their third place finish in the Cougar/Aflac Invitational from last year. Hosted by Peach Belt Conference (PBC) rival Columbus State University, the tournament takes place Sept. 29-30.
The North Georgia Invitational will be the fourth tournament in as many weeks for GC Golf, as they head to Dahlonega Oct. 8-9.
After a two-week layoff, the Bobcats will compete in their fifth and final tournament of the fall, an appearance in the McDonough Cup, hosted by Rollins College in Orlando, Fla. Oct. 27-28.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
