#23 Bobcat Golf 13th After First Day of Bobcat Intercollegiate

EATONTON, Ga. – Led by an eighth-place effort from Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) the No. 23 Georgia College golf squad is 13th after day one of action at the GC-hosted Bobcat Intercollegiate. The Bobcats battled sub-50 degree rainy weather to shoot a 35-over round of 315 Monday on the par-70, 6,847-yard Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee course.

Monte carded a 75 for five-over par, part of a six-way tie for eighth. Monte was one off the round lead for pars, putting 12 on his scorecard.

Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.), Nicolas Falkinhoff (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) are tied for second among the Bobcat starting five, 54th overall at 10-over with an 80. The final starting round went to Pontus Andersson (Helsingborg, Sweden) at a plus-17 87.

The Bobcats also put four individuals on the rainy course, with Conner Albright (Macon, Ga.) leading the way at 14th overall at six-over par with his 76. Harry Lambert (Suwanee, Ga.) is 78th at 14-over par and 84. Harrison Stewart (Roswell, Ga.) is 90th at 19-over and David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.) is 92nd at plus-22.

Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Clayton State University owns the team lead at 19-over with a 299, just four strokes ahead of both No. 12 Nova Southeastern University and No. 7 Armstrong Atlantic State University.

The individual leader is Frank Lindblom from Clayton, posting a 69, the only sub-par round any of the 93 golfers shot today. Armstrong's Shad Tuten is two strokes back.

The second and final round gets underway tomorrow at 8:22 a.m. The Bobcat starters take to the course at 9:10 a.m. when Andersson tees off. Georgia College will be paired with golfers from No. 10 University of West Florida and Carson-Newman University.
