Fox Leads No. 20 GC Golf in Southeastern Collegiate


VADOSTA, Ga. – The No. 20 Georgia College golf team shot 590 after two rounds Monday, to be tied for sixth with St. Leo University in the 2014 First Federal Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State University at the 7,113-yard, par-72 Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. Senior Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) led all players shooting a four-under par 140 through 36 holes. 

The 18-team, 90-player field will finish the final round tomorrow with the Bobcats currently ahead of five top-20 schools.  Fox and the host team's John Fordham had the top round with a three-under par 69, but Fox's second round score of one-under par 71 put him atop the field. Georgia College averaged a 295-team score in the first two rounds, shooting 294 in the morning and 296 in the afternoon. 

Junior Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) finished tied-35th for the day with scores of two- and three-over par 74 and 75. Senior Victor Monte's (Chantilly, Va.) first-round two-over par 74 and freshman Conner Albright's (Macon, Ga.) first-round five-over par 77 rounded out the team's first-round total. 

Freshman Nicolas Falkinhoff (Buenos Aires, Argentina) factored in the second-round scoring with a four-over par 76. Both Monte and Albright are tied at 45th overall with combined seven-over par 151 totals, while Falkinhoff ended with a 155. 

After two rounds, No. 1 Barry University and No. 2 Lynn University are tied for the lead at 572, while host-team Valdosta State and No. 9 Armstrong Atlantic State University are tied-third at 583. No. 12 University of North Alabama is fifth for teams currently ahead of Georgia College. 

The Bobcats currently lead No. 6 University of West Florida, No. 11 Columbus State University, No. 13 Flagler College, No. 15 Florida Southern College and No. 19 Florida Institute of Technology. 

The Bobcats will conclude the final round tomorrow.
