#28 GC Golf, Fox Finish Eighth at Pirate Invite
POOLER, Ga. – The No. 28 Georgia College golf squad saved its best round for last, firing a 292 for round three of the Pirate Invitational Tuesday, hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State University. The round gave the team a 46-over score for the three rounds, placing the Bobcats eighth among the 17-team field.
Senior Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) finished eighth in the 90-golfer field at two-over, carding rounds of 76, 68 and 71. Fox has two top-10 finishes on the season.
Also shooting a 71 today was Nicolas Falkinhoff (Buenos Aires, Argentina), taking 38th at 15-over par after yesterday's 80 and 77 scores. Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) was third on the team and 41st overall at 16-over par, posting a 74-75-80.
Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) added his best round of the three today with a 74, taking 50th at plus-18. Yesterday he had rounds of 79 and 78. Nabbing two counting rounds among his three was David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.), following up an opening day 80 and 77 with today's 75. Sullivan was 22-over par in 66th place.
No. 14 Nova Southeastern University took the team title at five-over par. It beat host No. 8 Armstrong by a single stroke. The individual effort was won by Fredrik Lindblom of Clayton State University at four-under, one shot ahead of Travis Williamson of the host Pirates.
The Bobcats finished ahead of two top-25 teams in the most recent GolfStat.com rankings, beating both No. 16 University of West Georgia and No. 18 Mount Olive College. The Pirate Invitational went unfinished a year ago, cancelled by rain.
The Bobcats are back in action Monday, March 10 at the Southeastern Intercollegiate, hosted by Valdosta State University.
