COLUMBUS, Ga. – Junior Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) is in sixth place, helping the Georgia College golf squad to fourth place after two rounds Monday in the Aflac/Cougar Invitational, hosted by Columbus State University.
The Bobcats are tied for fourth with Lander University at 11-over par, Georgia College posting rounds of 294 and 285 on the par-71, 6515-yard Country Club of Columbus course.
Monte put up rounds of 69 and 72 for one-under par, five strokes off the lead. Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) is 30th at five-over par. The junior rebounded from a 76 with a second-round 71.
Defending Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Week Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) and sophomore David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.) are a stroke behind in 33rd at six-over. Fox followed a 72 with a 76 in today's action, while Sullivan went in the other direction, a 78 followed by a 70.
Freshman Conner Albright (Macon, Ga.) is positioned 36th at seven-over. Both of Albright's rounds counted, however as he put up a 77 and 72.
The host CSU squad leads the team battle at five-under, running away from the field as the Cougars own a 12-stroke lead over the University of West Florida in second place. Florida Southern College's Tim Crouch is the individual leader at six-under par. He owns a two-stroke advantage over Lander's Robert Prior.
The third and final round comes tomorrow, Oct. 1. Albright leads the Bobcats to the course at 8:50 a.m., playing with golfers from Lander and No. 8 Florida Southern.
