MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College golf program and head coach Jimmy Wilson announced the Bobcats’ 2012 golf schedule Friday. The schedule includes nine regular season tournaments. The Bobcats will travel to three different states during the regular season and could make it four should they advance to the NCAA Championship in Hershey, Pa.

The season starts Sept. 10-11 in Florence, S.C., as Francis Marion University will host the Spring Hill Suites Intercollegiate. The next week, the Bobcats will return to South Carolina for the Kiawah Island Invitational, hosted by USC Aiken Sept. 17-18. They’ll round out the month of September with a trip to Columbus, Ga. where they’ll take part in the Aflac Invitational.

In a change to this year’s schedule, the Bobcats will be competing in the newly-renamed McDonough Cup; the tournament in Orlando, Fla. will be hosted by Rollins College Oct. 29-30. Previously know as the Rollins Invitational, the tournament is known as one of the premier fall tournaments in Division-II men’s golf.

Winter kicks off with a trip back to Florida, where the Bobcats will compete in the Matlock Invitational in Lakeland, hosted by Florida Southern College Feb. 11-12. The Bobcats will head to Savannah, Ga. and look to defend their title at the Pirate Invitational, hosted by Armstrong Feb. 25-26. Georgia College came in first out of 13 teams last year, winning by 15 strokes.

After traveling to Valdosta, Ga. for the Southeastern Intercollegiate March 11-12, the Bobcats will return home to host the Bobcat Intercollegiate from March 18-19. They’ll round out the regular season with a trip to Greenwood, S.C. where they’ll compete in the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Lander University March 25-26.

The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships will be hosted by Columbus State University at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga. April 20-21. The Regional Championship will be held at the Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howey in The Hills, Fla. May 6-8. The Bobcats were region champions for the second time in school history a year ago, beating the field by just a single stroke. The NCAA Championship will take place May 20-24 at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.

Georgia College Golf returns three All-Americans for the 2012-2013 season, as Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.) return for their senior years. Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) also returns to the team after a masterful freshman year during the 2011-2012 season.

The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
