#12 GC Golf Fourth After Two Rounds at Southeastern Collegiate

VALDOSTA, Ga. - The No. 12 Georgia College golf team finished the first two rounds of the 2013 First Federal Southeastern Collegiate in fourth place with a total two-round score of 592 (plus-16).

The Bobcats finished the first round with a score of 294 and added a second-round score of 298 at the par-72, 7,140-yard Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga.

The Bobcats were led by senior All-American Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.), who followed an even par first round with a one-over 73, good for 10th. Smith carded a pair of birdies today on the par-five 11th.

Classmate and two-time All-American Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) shot a 71 and 75 for a two-over 146 in 12th. Garrett had an up-and-down second round, balancing four birdies with six holes carded over par.

Leading the Southeastern Collegiate is No. 5 Florida Southern College with a two-round total of 575. Second place stands at a tie with No. 2 Barry University and No. 10 Columbus State University sharing a score of 584.

Junior Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) is third for the Bobcats and 26th overall at plus-six after posting a pair of 75s. Sophomore All-American Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) and junior Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) both sit eight over par at 152. Trocchio shaved two strokes off an opening-round 77, while Monte scored a pair of 76s.

GC golf will play the third and final round of the tournament tomorrow, March 11. Monte is set to tee off with golfers from host Valdosta State University and No. 4 University of North Alabama at 9:20 a.m. on hole No. 1.
