ORLANDO, Fla. – Senior Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) owns a share of seventh place, leading the No. 16 Georgia College golf team to sixth place at the 2012 McDonough Cup Monday. The teams played two rounds of the three-round tournament, hosted by Rollins College.
Garrett fired a 74 and 72 today for two-over on the par-72, 7,001-yard Rio Pinar Country Club course. Classmate Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.) is 27th after two rounds; six-over after putting up a 76 and 74.
Sophomore Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) is third on the squad and 31st overall at seven-over par after rounds of 77 and 74. Junior Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) is 55th after rounds of 80 and 75. Getting his first start of the season, Pontus Andersson (Helsingborg, Sweden) owns rounds of 82 and 76 in 71st.
The team score was 602 for the two rounds, firing a 307 and 295. The Bobcats are five strokes out of the top five, behind Valdosta State University. The team lead belongs to No. 1 Nova Southeastern University at 585. The Sharks own a two-stroke lead over Lynn University.
NSU's Ben Taylor is tied with Mount Olive College's Mark O'Hara and Rollins' Davis Hall for the individual lead at even par.
The final round of action starts tomorrow.
