VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 22 Georgia College golf squad is ninth after two rounds Monday at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State University. The Bobcats stand at plus-11 after rounds of 295 and 292 at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
GC is just eight strokes out of the top-five after posting two rounds at the par-72, 7,140-yard course.
Sophomore Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) is just outside the top-10 in 11th, posting a 69 and 73 for two-over par. His first round featured five birdies, including four on the front half.
Junior Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) rebounded nicely from an opening round 76 with a 68. The No. 38 player in the country stands 17th at even par. In round two, Garrett posted an eagle on the par-five 11th hole, and was at par or better on all of the back nine.
Classmate Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.) followed a 72 with a 76 and sits 33rd at four-over par. No. 67 in the nation, Smith birdied the par-four No. 14 twice today.
Freshmen David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.) and Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) are both tied at 66th. Sullivan shaved five strokes off a first round 80 for a counting score in round two at 75. Trocchio capped a 78 with a 77 in today's action.
The University of North Alabama's Tyler Chandler leads the field at 10-under par, three strokes better than the field. Riding Chandler's success, the No. 13 Lions are in first place in the team race at minus-six. No. 3 Barry University is just a stroke behind, and No. 1 Lynn University only three.
The Bobcats rank third among the five Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools in the 14-team tournament, and are ahead of one nationally-ranked team in No. 5 Georgia Southwestern State University.
The Bobcats get started in the first group tomorrow, as Sullivan is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. with golfers from Florida Tech and Columbus State University.
