MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – No. 15 Georgia College Golf and head coach Jimmy Wilson are pleased to announce the release of the 2011 spring schedule.
The Bobcats begin their tilt Feb. 13-15 at the Matlock Invitational hosted by Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla. Last year at Matlock, the ‘Cats ousted a field of 15 to finish first.
Two weeks later, Feb. 27 to March 1, the Bobcats take their talents to Pensacola, Fla. for the Argonaut Invitational hosted by the University of West Florida. March 13-15 Georgia College will participate in the First Federal Southeastern Intercollegiate hosted by Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga. The Bobcats tied for third in the 18 team field last season.
The next week they host the Bobcat Intercollegiate in Eatonton, Ga., March 20-22. The ‘Cats third tournament in as many weeks will be at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Lander University, March 27-29, in Greenwood, S.C.
Next up are the PBC Championships April 10-12 hosted by Armstrong Atlantic in Savannah, Ga. After three weeks off, the Bobcats travel to Deland, Fla. to participate in the NCAA Super Regional Division II Championship hosted by Rollins College, May 2-4
The Bobcats hope to end their season at the NCAA Championships, May 16-20, in Florence, Ala. hosted by the University of North Alabama.
The 2010 PBC Champions, Georgia College golf is one of the more decorated programs in school history, having another outstanding season in 2009-10. The team picked up the conference title among three tournament wins, added four all-conference golfers and the PBC Golfer of the Year, as well as three GCAA All-American selections.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, back-to-back winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
