MARTINEZ, Ga. – Senior Joe Young (Cochran, Ga.) of the No. 7 Georgia College golf team was named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Co-Golfer of the Week Thursday. Young shares the honor with Columbus State University’s Rourke Van der Spuy.
Young's season-low 67 in the final round of the 2011 Bobcat Invitational was the lowest score recorded in the third round of action. Young tied at four strokes off the lead, posting rounds of 71 and 73 on day one to finish at one over par. He now leads the PBC with a 71.4 stroke average, bettering the rest of the conference by nearly a full stroke.
He is the 12th Georgia College golfer all-time to take home the honor in just the fourth season of the weekly award, and the third different GC golfer to take the honor this season.
The Bobcats are back in action at the final regular-season tournament of 2011, the Bearcat Invitational March 28-29 in Greenwood, S.C., hosted by Lander University.
