MARTINEZ, Ga. – Senior Billy Shida (Berkeley Lakes, Ga.) of the No. 15 Georgia College golf team was named the most recent Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced.
Shida posted three straight sub-70 rounds to win the Matlock Collegiate Classic last week, winning the first tournament of his career by five strokes over his nearest competitor. Shida's 67-69-69 was the first time since 1995 a golfer at the Matlock had posted three rounds in the 60s. His efforts helped Georgia College to a second-place finish in the tough 15-team field.
This marks the first such honor for both Shida and the Bobcat golf squad this season. He is the ninth Georgia College golfer all-time to take home the honor in the fourth season of the weekly award.
The Bobcats travel to the Argonaut Invitational Monday, Feb. 28 at the University of West Florida.
