#2 Bobcat Golf in Fourth at Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The No. 2 Georgia College &
State University golf team sits 18 strokes back of East Carolina
University after two rounds of the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate.
The Bobcats are in fourth place with a team score of 582 in the
predominantly Division I tourney, but lead Peach Belt Conference
(PBC) member and the only other Division II school Armstrong
Atlantic State University by seven strokes.
Junior Joe
Young (Cochran, Ga.) sits in second place and is two
strokes back of individual leader David Watkins of East Carolina.
The Bobcat junior fired rounds of 68-70 for a six-under 138 at the
par-72 Savannah Quarters Country Club.
Senior Francisco Bide
(Buenos Aires, Argentina) shot plus-two 146 with rounds of
75-71 on the 7,016 yard course designed by Greg Norman. Francisco
Bide is second for Georgia College and tied for 27th place overall.
Classmate and Sweden native Niclas
Johansson finished tied for 44th after the first two
rounds of play and shot 72-78.
Junior Billy Shida (Berkeley
Lakes, Ga.) finished fourth for the Bobcats. The junior
shot plus-six 78 in the first round and managed to bounce back for
plus-one 73 in the second to stand tied at 52nd.
Freshman Bernardo Bide (Buenos
Aires, Argentina) in his second tourney of the fall season
stands tied at 60th. The younger Bide fired rounds of 78-75 for a
six-over 153.
The Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate will conclude with round three
tomorrow (Oct. 20), tee times starting at 8 a.m. Bernardo Bide tees
off at 8:45 a.m. to get the Bobcats started, as they are paired
with host Georgia Southern University and Furman University. This
is the final tournament of the fall season for the
Bobcats.
