#8 Bobcats Lead Southeastern Collegiate After Round One

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Powering its way through another strong spring, the No. 8 Georgia College & State University golf squad stands atop the team list after round one at the Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State University.

The Bobcats carded a first-round 285, two strokes ahead of host VSU at the par-72, 7,127-yard Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

Junior Niclas Johansson (Skanor, Sweden) leads the way with a two-under 70, good for third. Sophomore Joe Young (Cochran, Ga.) posted a one-under 71 in eighth.

A pair of Bobcat juniors stand 15th, as both Pedro C. Lima's (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Francisco Bide (Buenos Aires, Argentina/El Diamante (Calif.)) each carded an even par effort. Sophomore Billy Shida (Berkeley Lake, Ga.) shot a one-over 73 for 27th.

The top Blazer linkster Brent Witcher leads the individual race with a first-round 68.

Round two of three begins tomorrow, March 16 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
