Georgia College and State University Dance Team, The Sassy Cats are a hip-hop dance team, which has won several Peach Belt Titles and made it to finals at UDA Nationals. Georgia College Dancers perform during halftime at the men's GCSU basketball games. The dance team will perform at all men's home basketball games, compete and both Peach Belt and UDA Nationals. The Sassy Cats are looking for strong, passionate dancers, who are extremely dedicated and have a background in hip-hop dancing. If you are interested in trying out, and have little to no experience in hip-hop, we suggest taking a hip-hop workshop or class to prepare.
To be eligible for Dance Team tryouts, students must be currently enrolled, full-time students or incoming freshman/transfer students who have already been accepted for the Fall 2009 semester at GCSU. A 2.5 GPA is required for consideration and full time status will be checked during tryouts for eligibility. If these two requirements are not met, the individual will not be allowed to tryout. If selected for the GCSU Dance Team, all members are required to attend all practices, workouts, performances, and other activities the Advisor, Captain, and Co-Captains deem necessary.
Spring tryouts will be held on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Centennial Center. Tryouts will include the following:

Everyone who auditions for the team will be taught a dance. After practicing, the dance will be performed in front of the judges, and selections will be made. (Callbacks and Interviews may be required*). Ability of the dancer, work ethic, personality, and attitude will all be considered when selecting those for the 2009-2010 dance team. If you are unable to attend spring tryouts, a fall tryout will be held in August.
