STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Georgia College Baseball alum Brandon Benson (2017) was called up to the State College Spikes, the Class-A Short Season affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals this week.
Benson collected a hit in three trips in his debut this season, slapping a leadoff single to left in the fifth. Benson's knock was one of two hits the Spikes were able to manage off the Vermont Lake Monsters trio of pitchers.
The former Bobcat shortstop was on an 11 game rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast Cardinals, finishing 7-for-28 with a pair of home runs, five RBIs and eight runs.
