WINGATE, N.C. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its All-Southeast Region Team Wednesday, with No. 1 Georgia College Baseball (43-11) putting five players on the list, including Region Pitcher of the Year Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek, Georgia).

Joining Hecht on the first team were senior Logan Mattix (Loganville, Georgia) in the outfield and senior Nate Schmal (Cumming, Georgia) at utility. The second team featured senior Matthew Miller (San Diego, California) at first base and junior Wesley Wommack (Monroe, Georgia) in the outfield.

The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Pitcher of the Year, Hecht is 11-1 with a 2.81 ERA and 125 strikeouts over 102 2/3 innings. The strikeout total ranks third in school history, tied with Martin Dewald in 2010. Hecht is the first NCBWA Region Pitcher of the Year in school history, and just the second first teamer at pitcher, joining Dewald in 2010.

Mattix owns a .403 batting average and nine home runs with 66 RBIs and 62 runs. His career RBI total of 214 is the school's NCAA-era record and ranks fourth all-time. He's the third NCBWA All-Region First Team outfielder in program history, joining Shawn Ward and Sean Harrell in 2010.

Schmal won the PBC batting title in the regular season and is at a .414 average now, adding 32 RBIs and 38 runs with six triples. He is the first All-Region honoree for GC Baseball at utility.

The only two-time NCBWA All-Region selection for the Bobcats, Miller is in the midst of a 30-game hit streak, the longest for GC Baseball this season. He owns a .405 average with six home runs, 38 RBIs and 61 runs. He was a second-team choice in 2016 in the outfield. Wommack is a .396 hitter with three home runs, 46 RBIs and 53 runs, winning PBC Tournament MVP honors last week.

Since the organization's inception in 2009, Georgia College has now had 22 student-athletes named to the NCBWA All-Region list, including seven in head coach Jason Eller's two seasons. Hecht, Mattix and Schmal will all now move on to the All-America ballot.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, May 18 at 11 a.m., taking on Wingate University in an elimination game at the NCAA Southeast Regional.
