AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced its weekly award winners Monday, with No. 8 Georgia College Baseball's (36-10, 26-4 PBC) Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek) earning PBC Pitcher of the Week.
Hecht had the best start of his career in the opener at No. 5 Columbus State University, winning a duel with Kolton Ingram 4-0. The senior from Johns Creek tossed his second career complete-game shutout, allowing only four hits and two walks over the full nine with 10 strikeouts. He retired the side in order four times and only allowed two baserunners after the fourth inning, finishing the game with 115 pitches, 79 for strikes. Hecht is tied for the league lead with 10 wins on the season. He also leads the PBC with a 2.04 ERA, is second in strikeouts and fourth in innings pitched.
Hecht is the first PBC Pitcher of the Week for GC Baseball this season, and the first since Hecht took the honor March 13, 2017. Bobcat Baseball has 33 conference pitcher of the week awards all-time.
The Bobcats are in action Friday, May 4 at 6 p.m. at John Kurtz Field as they take on Winston-Salem State University.
