Georgia College Baseball Claims Season-High #8 Spot in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Georgia College Baseball team (36-10, 26-4 PBC) claimed the No. 8 spot in this week's Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Top 30 Poll. This is the highest the team has been ranked all season.

Of the other four Peach Belt Conference (PBC) teams to make the poll (Columbus State University, UNC Pembroke and USC Aiken), Georgia College was ranked the highest. CSU is No. 9, followed by No. 17 UNCP and No. 25 USCA. North Greenville University holds down the top spot for the second week, one of their six losses coming to the Bobcats Feb. 3.

The Bobcats are 36-10 overall and 26-4 in conference play, with second baseman Nate Schmal (Cumming, Georgia) leading the team with a .416 batting average. Senior righty Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek, Georgia) has a 2.04 ERA and 10 victories this season.

The Bobcats are in action Friday, May 4 at 6 p.m. at John Kurtz Field as they take on Winston-Salem State University.
