MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Members of the Georgia College Baseball team continue to work hard this summer, competing in collegiate summer leagues across the country.
Four members of GC Baseball are in the Coastal Plain League (CPL), including a pair of pitchers playing for the Lexington County Blowfish. Rising senior Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek) has made four starts, and has totaled 18 innings with 15 strikeouts, both numbers third on the roster. Hecht is 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA. Rising senior Logan Hicks (Statham) has made two relief appearances, allowing a single earned run over his one total inning thrown.
The CPL's Savannah Bananas have two All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) sluggers on the roster in rising seniors Logan Mattix (Loganville) and Brandon Purcell (Glennville). Mattix has played in 20 games, going 22-for-67 (.328) a team-high 18 runs scored. He's second on the squad with 12 RBis, and has swatted a pair of home runs and stolen four bases as well. Purcell has seen action in 15 games, going 17-for-59 (.288) with eight RBIs, seven runs and four steals.
Three Bobcat pitchers are in action in the Sunbelt League (SL). Rising junior righty Colin LoCurto (Kennesaw) has appeared in five games for the Atlanta Crackers, going 6 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts and a 5.40 ERA. Rising junior Brooks Luther (Dallas) is on the roster for the Carrollton Clippers, and has been their best bullpen option. Over his six appearances, he owns three saves and a 1.28 ERA. He has a team-high 10 strikeouts in seven innings. Rising junior righty Chandler Amason (Grayson) is on the roster for the Norcross Astros, making three appearances with a pair of starts. He has a save in his relief outing, and owns a 3.37 ERA and nine strikeouts over eight innings.
