MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Members of the Georgia College Baseball team continue to work hard this summer, competing in collegiate summer leagues across the country.
Four members of GC Baseball are in the Coastal Plain League (CPL), including a pair of pitchers playing for the Lexington County Blowfish. Junior Charlie Hecht (Johns Creek) has made two starts, and is tops on the team in innings with 10 and strikeouts with nine. Hecht is 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA. Junior Logan Hicks (Statham) has made two relief appearances, allowing a single earned run over his one total inning thrown.
The CPL's Savannah Bananas have two All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) sluggers on the roster in juniors Logan Mattix (Loganville) and Brandon Purcell (Glennville). Mattix has played in four games, going 6-for18 (.333) with five RBIs and two runs. Purcell has seen action in three games, going 2-for-15 (.154) with an RBI and a double.
Two Bobcat pitchers are in action in the Sunbelt League (SL). Sophomore righty Colin LoCurto (Kennesaw) threw two shutout innings in the team's first game June 6, allowing a single hit and fanning three. Sophomore Brooks Luther (Dallas) is on the roster for the Carrollton Clippers, and threw in their first game June 2. In that game he posted two innings, allowing just a single unearned run on two hits, fanning four.
