GC Baseball’s Hazel Receives Academic Honor

Georgia College Athletics has Academic Success

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Senior Georgia College baseball catcher Steve Hazel (Kentwood, Mich.) added to his on-field accolades April 17 as he was named Most Outstanding Business Management Student of the Year at the annual Atkinson Honors Ceremony.

The awards at the Atkinson Honors Ceremony are given out based on grade point average, extra-curricular activities and class participation.  As a student-athlete with both All-America and Academic All-PBC honors under his belt, Hazel has excelled on and off the diamond in his four years at Georgia College.

On the field, Hazel hit .381 this season, adding 13 home runs and 53 RBI. The catcher had a .710 slugging percentage, and scored 45 runs as well.

Each department within the school of business selects students that will win awards.  Dr. Nick Beadles is the Interim Chair for the Department of Management, and he played a large role in selecting Hazel for the honor.

Hazel is just one example of the high-quality student-athletes that are proud to be Bobcats.
