DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) has selected its most recent weekly awards, with Georgia College sophomore Jake Sandlin (Evans, Ga.) earning Southeast Region Player of the Week.
Sandlin posted multi-hit games in all three contests this week, powering the Bobcats to a 3-0 record. He finished 7-for-10 (.700) with nine RBI, seven runs scored and a pair of home runs. He had three extra-base hits among his seven, slugging 1.400 for the week, was a perfect 1-1 in stolen bases and errorless in the field on 17 putouts in right.
His best game was the doubleheader opener win at Montevallo Saturday, going 3-for-3 with five RBI, four runs and a pair of home runs. The 2013 All-PBC outfielder is second in the league in triples (4), 11th in runs scored (52) and 12th in on-base percentage (.465) this year.
The Bobcats kick off the regular season's final weekend Saturday, May 3 at 3 p.m. in doubleheader action against the University of North Georgia at John Kurtz Field.
