MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Sophomore Jake Sandlin (Evans, Ga.) of the No. 6 Georgia College baseball team (24-5, 12-3 PBC) has been named Bobcat Athlete of the Week after helping the Bobcat baseball team to a 4-0 record this past week. This is his first time receiving the honor, and he is the fourth player to be recognized from the baseball team this season.
Sandlin went 7-for-15, hitting .467 with nine RBI and six runs scored in the Bobcat's four games this week. The sophomore powered the Bobcat offense with a home run and two doubles, finishing the week with a .800 slugging percentage.
In the doubleheader with Clark Atlanta University Tuesday, he went 3-for-6 at the plate and drove in six runs. His home run helped solidify the doubleheader sweep at Carson-Newman.
Sandlin leads the team with 36 runs batted in this year, and is second in home runs with three. He has seven stolen bases on the season and a batting average of .376.
The Bobcats continue their Peach Belt Conference schedule this weekend with home games against No. 25 Columbus State University Friday, April 4 starting at 6 p.m., and continuing with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. The Bobcats are first in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) with a 12-3 record.
