MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College baseball team has received national and region rankings in the most recent release from the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA).
The Bobcats took away the third spot in the Southeast Region, right behind No. 1 Lander University and No. 2 USC Aiken. Rounding out the top five was No. 4 Wingate University and No. 5 Erskine College. The Bobcats received one first place vote.
The national poll consisted of three Peach Belt Conference (PBC) teams including Georgia College. The Bobcats stole the No. 19 spot for their first ranking of the 2014 season. Lander took the highest position at No. 4 and USC Aiken finished off the top 10.
The Bobcats moved to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference after crushing Newberry College 16-7 Tuesday.
The squad will be back in action and on the road Friday, March 7 at 6 p.m. in Americus, Ga. where they will take on Georgia Southwestern State University.
