GC Baseball Adds Sullivan to Staff

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – To fill his assistant coach opening, Georgia College head baseball coach Tom Carty needed to look only a state away, as Judson Sullivan joins the squad from the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

Sullivan spent one season with the Chargers, focusing mainly on catchers but also helping with recruiting, practice planning, game preparation, strength & conditioning and coaching first base. Sullivan helped guide UAH’s catcher to all-conference and all-region status, leading the Chargers to a bid in the NCAA Regional Tournament as well.

“We are excited about adding Judson Sullivan to our program,” said Carty. “We had many good candidates for this position but Jud was the right fit for our program at this time. He brings with him a great work ethic and strong game knowledge. He will be an asset to our program assisting Coach Zeke Mitchem with recruiting and the offensive gameplan. Jud did a great job with the catchers last season at UAH and we expect our catching position to continue to improve under his leadership.”

During his stint at UAH, Sullivan also served as an assistant for the Hoptown Hoppers, a Collegiate Summer Wood Bat League team. The Hoppers took the 2012 Ohio Valley League Championship. Prior to UAH, he had stints with both Vinemont and Tuscaloosa County High Schools, both in Alabama.

His playing career also came in the Yellowhammer state, competing for NCAA Division III Huntingdon College in Montgomery, where he earned a degree in exercise science.
