MILLEDGEVILE, Ga. – With a strong 3-1 week including a pair of victories over the No. 2 team in the nation, Georgia College baseball (24-10, 12-6 PBC) has earned its first spot in the national rankings, positioned No. 24 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
The national ranking is the first of the season for the Bobcats, after being listed as receiving votes in each of the last two weekly polls. Georgia College is fifth among the five Peach Belt Conference (PBC) teams listed. No. 9 USC Aiken leads the conference list, followed closely by No. 10 Lander University. The University of Montevallo is No. 14, with No. 16 UNC Pembroke two spots below.
The top spot in the country goes to Delta State University, flanked by No. 2 Mount Olive College and No. 3 Cal State-Chico.
For the second-straight week, the Bobcats earned a spot in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region Poll, moving up two spots to fifth place. MOC leads this poll, with USCA No. 2 and Lander No. 3.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, April 10 at 3 p.m. traveling to Erskine College.
