PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Georgia College baseball team (9-7, 3-3 PBC) took a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series at No. 24 UNC Pembroke (13-5, 4-5 PBC) winning a 9-2 game Sunday for a 2-1 series victory.
Righty starter Justin Blue (Mulberry, Fla.) tossed eight innings, scattering eight UNCP hits for just two unearned runs. Blue (3-2) tallied six strikeouts, and has gone at least six innings in four of his five starts. Just one of the eight hits went for extra bases, a Ben Schmucker double.
First baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.) swatted his third home run of the season as part of a 3-for-4 day, driving in four and scoring twice. Ardeeser's home run was a solo shot in the third, as the Bobcats scored in all but two of the game's innings.
Leftfielder Taylor Hinshaw (Winder, Ga.) added his own solo home run in the sixth, Hinshaw's third this season. Five of the team's nine hits went for extra bases.
Dale Innes (2-1) lasted seven innings in the loss, fanning seven; five of Innes' six runs were earned.
The victory for the Bobcats gives Georgia College a 2-4 mark against ranked opponents this season.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 5 at 2 p.m., hosting Florida Tech (14-4).
