ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Georgia College baseball team (7-5, 1-2 PBC) dropped a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) contest 8-4 Sunday at Flagler College (9-7, 2-4 PBC) thanks in large part to the Saints' six-run fifth inning.
With the Bobcats up 4-1, Flagler plated six runs in the bottom of the fifth. A Bobcat error got the first two in, and then a trio of RBI singles preceded a sacrifice fly to cap the outburst. Down 7-4, the Bobcats were held scoreless for the final four frames.
Catcher Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) hit a three-run home run in the top of the fifth, the second this season for the Bobcat slugger. The other run came in the third on an RBI single from second baseman Ryan Sabalaskey (Carol Stream, Ill.).
Bobcat starter Justin Blue (Mulberry, Fla.) took the loss (2-2), surrendering five earned runs over 4 1/3 innings. Flagler starter Jake Brandenberger (4-0) got his second win of the series by going the distance, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks; fanning six. Rightfielder Jake Hanson was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. hosting the University of West Georgia (7-4). The Wolves had doubleheader action with Paine College today.
