#11 Tampa Pitching Handcuffs Bobcats, 5-1

TAMPA, Fla. – Most of the runs came early Saturday, as the Georgia College baseball team (3-3) lost 5-1 at No. 11 University of Tampa (5-1).

The Spartans chipped away with runs in each inning from the third to the sixth.

Georgia College plated its run in the top of the fourth, at the time cutting a 2-0 Tampa lead in half. Senior Mikee Moore (Dunwoody, Ga.) reached on a single and stole second, advancing to third on a wild pitch. With one out, sophomore Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.) lifted a ball to center for a sacrifice fly, Ardeeser's fifth RBI this season. Moore finished with two hits in four trips.

Senior righty Matt LaMothe (Troy, Mich.) took the loss (1-1), allowing four earned runs on nine hits and three walks over six innings. Relievers John Clark (Duluth, Ga.) and Daniel Szathmary (Suwanee, Ga.) each provided shutout innings to finish out the game.

Tampa starter Ben Brown (2-0) got the win with five innings of work, Matt Abramson adding four innings of relief for his first save. Centerfielder Connor Obrochta set the table from the leadoff spot with three hits and a run.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Feb. 15 in an interesting doubleheader, squaring off with North Greenville University at 2 p.m. before facing Clark Atlanta University at 6 p.m.
